Islamic Games Weightlifting competitions to be held in Baku, on May 12-22, started. 130 athletes from 21 countries will get on the platform. There are 51 women, 79 men among them. Azerbaijan National Team will compete with full staff- 16 persons ( 8 women and 8 men). Today, the first day of competition started with men 56 kg. In this weight category, Azerbaijan is represented by Elmar Aliev. In snatch, Elmar lifted 103 kg. Because of injury in his hand, Aliev could lift only 130 kg, in clean and jerk.
He took the 6th place with total 233 kg (103+130) result.
