Islamic Games Weightlifting competitions to be held in Baku, on May 12-22, started. 130 athletes from 21 countries will get on the platform. There are 51 women, 79 men among them. Azerbaijan National Team will compete with full staff- 16 persons ( 8 women and 8 men).
Today, women in 53 kg weight category got on the platform. In this weight category, Azerbaijan is represented by Sabina Azimova and Gulchin Alizade. In snatch, Gulchin Alizade lifted 70 kg and in clean and jerk, she could lift 86 kg. Gulchin took the 4th place with total 156 kg (70+86) result.
In snatch, Sabina Azimova lifted 75 kg and in clean and jerk, 17 years old athlete lifted 101 kg.
Showing total 176 kg (75+101) result, Sabina Azimova took the 3rd place and won our first medal in Islamic Games.
