From the 5th<\/sup> to 28th<\/sup> of May, the 7th<\/sup> \u201cZirve Children\u2019s Games\u201d, dedicated to the 96th<\/sup> anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, held in the AAAF Park Residential, Recreation and Entertainment Complexes located in Khirdalan and Astara, are proceeding. In the competitions, attended by more than 4000 athletes from 12 nations in 27 sport types, the winners in weightlifting are determined.<\/p>\n

On the second day of the competition, attended by approximately 200 athletes from 7 nations-Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia, Turkey, Israel, Moldova and Ukraine, the boys of 50 kg competed.<\/p>\n

Gazakh athlete Gasim Ismailov claimed the men\u2019s 50 kilograms with a total of 157 kg (67+90). The silver medal went to the Georgian Archil Okropiridze with a total of 140 kg (62+78), while the bronze medallist Lankaran athlete Tofig Gurbanov registered at 134 kg (58+76).<\/p>\n

In this year’s competitions, athletes will compete in weightlifting, equestrian, shooting, basketball, boxing, judo, football and beach football, artistic and sporting gymnastics, wrestling (free-style, Greco-Roman), karate, carting, kickboxing, fencing, archery, powerlifting, chess, taekwondo, tennis and table-tennis, swimming, beach volleyball and volleyball, badminton and athletics.<\/p>\n

The Games, organized by the \u201cZirve\u201d International Sport Clubs, are becoming a great tradition. The object of the “Zirve Games” is the preservation of the heritage of genius leader, to bring his work to our future generations, at the same time, propagation and development of sport types, strengthen friendly relations between athletes and coaches, improvement of athletes\u2019 skill levels, perfection of competition practices and evaluation of the work done by coaches.<\/p>\n
