Anti-doping webinar has been held

On the 27^th of April, anti-doping webinar has been organized by Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA). The members of Azerbaijan weightlifting team, as well as nearly 30 representatives of the coaching, technical and management staff of federation, took part in the online seminar. The webinar was hosted by Lala Hajiyeva, AMADA Education and Training Manager.

It was stated that the special online education and awareness program of AMADA will last for two months and will cover various aspects of the anti-doping program, as well as provide an interactive way to answer the most pressing questions of athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will be held in the format of webinars, quizzes and discussions on various topics.

The online program, launched with a webinar on COVID-19 and anti-doping activities on April 27, will proceed until the end of June. Within the first webinar, doping tests during COVID-19, athletes’ whereabouts, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) and other topics were discussed.

Webinars to be presented by AMADA in the next days will cover the topics showed below:

Rights and obligations of athletes – May 5;

Risks posed by food additives – May 11;

2020 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods – 25 May.

Note: The webinars on the list will be announced in advance on the Facebook and Instagram pages of AMADA. All webinars will be held in Azerbaijani on the “Microsoft Teams” platform.

European Championships postponed

European Weightlifting Federation decided to postpone the 2020 European Weightlifting Championships, amidst males and females, in Moscow from 2-12 April to a new date, 13-21 June 2020.

National team-in the training-camp

Azerbaijan Weightlifting teams, consisting of males and females, continue their training-camps at the Weightlifting Academy in Shuvalan. The main objective of the preparations under the guidance of head coach Asif Mammadov is to form a team for the European Championship to be held in Moscow, Russia, on April.

The camp goes on intensely. Speaking on the preparations, Asif Mammadov highlighted that the team was provided with all the vital facilities. The expert added that the training was normal and the aim is to make a decent performance at the European Championships in Moscow.
The European Championship will lauch on the 2nd of April.

2020 IWF Junior World Championships– cancelled!

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Executive Board has agreed to accept the cancellation of the 2020 IWF Junior World Championships in Bucharest, Romania as a precaution due to the ongoing development COVID19.

Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation honors memory of victims in Khojaly Tragedy!

Today is the day of sorrow for all Azerbaijanis – the anniversary of the genocide committed by the Armenian armed groups in Khojaly, town in Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Over the night from 25 to 26 February 1992 Armenian armed forces with support of the infantry guards regiment No.366 of the former Soviet Union committed genocides in the town of Khojaly.In one night, 613 persons were killed atrociously, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people. They scalped, cut people’s head and other organs off, extracted eyes of children, chopped stomachs of pregnant women.

2nd battalion of 366th regiment under the command of Major Oganyan Seyran Mushegovich, 3rd battalion under the command of Yevgeniy Nabokhin, staff chief of 1st battalion Chitchyan Valeriy and more than 50 officers and ensigns, serving in regiment took part in the attack. (“From the investigation materials concerning Khojaly occupation”).

A part of town residents, attempted to flee, were killed by Armenians, waiting in the ambushes. According to the Russian remedial centre “Мемоrial”, 200 corpses had been brought from Khojaly to Aghdam for 4 days, tens of humiliation facts has been discovered on them. 181 corpses (130 men and 51 women) were made forensic medical examination in Aghdam. According to the examination 151 persons dead in result of bullet wound, 20 – missile wound, 10 people were killed with blunt instrument. Remedial centre discovered fact of scalping of alive man.

Khojaly genocide is one of the most terrible tragedies of the twentieth century. The Azerbaijani people will never forget the events of that night and will always honor the victims.We believe that the blood of our martyrs will be avenged!

Azerbaijan championship concluded

On February 21-22, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among males and females concluded in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. In the competition, arranged with the cooperative organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, attended by approximately 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country.

The object of the competition has been to identify the strongest young athletes in the country, to promote and develop weightlifting, to strengthen the ties of friendship, to increase the skill level of athletes, as well as to prepare for the upcoming international competitions.

The last athletes, who boarded the platform, were in the men’s weight categories of 89, 96, 102 and +109 kg. Senan Mirzayev, Nailkhan Nabiyev, Ali Shukurlu and Ismayil Gurbanov got the title of winner, respectively.

Fugan Aliyev shined in the Azerbaijan championship!

On February 21-22, the last day of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among males and females is proceeding in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. In the competition, arranged with the cooperative organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, will be attended by approximately 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country.

The object of the competition is to identify the strongest young athletes in the country, to promote and develop weightlifting, to strengthen the ties of friendship, to increase the skill level of athletes, as well as to prepare for the upcoming international competitions.

The successive winners were amidst the men weighing up to 81kg. With a total of 273 kg (123+150), Fugan Aliyev exceeded all his opponents. Nurlan Rasulov finished second with 269 kg (118+151), however Kenan Aliguliyev came third with 267 kg (117+150).

Kenan Khalilov took a significant lead in Azerbaijan Championship

On February 21-22, the second day of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among males and females rounded off in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. In the competition, arranged with the cooperative organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, will be attended by approximately 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country.

In the men’s 73kg weight category, medal struggle was interesting. Kenan Khalilov took a significant lead in Azerbaijan championship with 268 kg (123+145) result. The subsequent places were pinched accordingly by Elshad Sharifov with a total of 262 kg (120+142) and Samir Askerzadeh with 255 kg (110+145)result.

On February 21-22, the first day of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among males and females terminated in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy.

And finally, the winners were selected from the 67 kg bodyweight category amid men. Omar Javadov gained the gold with a lift of 239 kg (110+129). The silver medal went to Murad Aliyev with a total of 238 kg (111+127), while the bronze medallist Elmaddin Huseynov registered at 230 kq (100+130).

In the competition, arranged with the cooperative organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, will be attended by approximately 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country. On February 21-22, Azerbaijan Weightlifting Championship among males and females started in the competition hall of Shuvelan Weightlifting Academy. In the competition, arranged with the cooperative organization of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, will be attended by approximately 100 athletes representing sport clubs and communities from all regions of the country.

The next triumphants of men were defined in 61kg. Tehran Mammadov managed to get on the highest place of honorary chair with 225 kg (100+125) result. Elshan Mammadov earned silver with 200 kg (90+110), while the bronze was grabbed by Mehman Gazanfarov with a total of 199 kg (89+110).
